According to the National Hurricane Center we may get a little wet this weekend.
Unless Ike magically becomes a category 5 hurricane tracking for Houston, we are staying put.
Is anyone else in Houston leaving for a long weekend?

Kim and I are reacting to Ike in our traditional ways.
Kim already has a box of food in the hallway ready to bunker down, we got 6 gallons of water two days ago, and she has plans to fill up the tub with water Friday night.
I have chosen to make fun of her and I ate the pringles she bought as rations.
I admire your civil disobedience in the form of Pringle-eating. That is genius.
We’re actually a little low on booze here. I may have to stop by Specs to replenish our bourbon and vodka supplies before Ike makes landfall.
Am I jaded?
Dave,
It looks like the eye is coming for West Houston. We are new to Houston and a bit concerned. Leaving the city is going to be a nightmare, I am sure.
Dear Hurricane IKE Sucks, I think it all depends upon where you live in the city. You may not have to evacuate unless you are in a flood plain.
Here’s a good post by the Chronicle’s Sci-Guy on evacuation routes for the storm.
Good luck. Justine and I will be stocking up on routine hurricane supplies (vodka, olives, vermouth, etc) and riding it out at home.
